KBB.com ( Kelley Blue Book ) has awarded two 2015 Jeeps with their “5-Year Lowest Cost to Own” award. The Jeep Wrangler Unlimited won the mid-size SUV/Crossover segment, and for the third year in a row, the Jeep Patriot won the Compact SUV/Crossover segment. Kelley’s executive editorial director, Jack Nerad, wrote that the main factor in Patriot was its value and low cost.
Mr. Nerad also wrote that “Classifying the Wrangler in one category is tough since it can serve many different needs, and there truly is nothing like it.”
The metrics that are considered when comparing vehicles for this award are depreciation, fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees. Depreciation, repairs, and fuel costs are projections.
